Step inside this compact maze of concrete.
From beneath a deep overhang, we look into an inner courtyard framed by stepped walls, openings and terraces. A tall concrete block sits at the centre like a pedestal. A few plants spill over the wall on the right. Marks left by the formwork run across the concrete, lending it a warm, timber-like texture.
Depth is at the heart of this image. One frame opens onto another, while walls conceal more walls, drawing you further in. It recalls how brutalist buildings were often designed to be explored on foot, revealing unexpected views at every turn.
The 5:4 format works well in a living room, study or dining room. Soft greys and tactile surfaces bring a sense of calm and depth, whether displayed in a Wellington villa or a modern Auckland home. Available in several sizes.
