A fortress, a castle, a city of tomorrow? This striking outline could be any of the three.
Concrete towers of varying heights stand close together, their façades marked by projecting blocks and upright ribs. The highest rises to the edge of the frame. Set against a pale sky, their jagged profiles resemble a crown or a mountain range.
Dark, weathered concrete gives the scene a coarse texture, while the even light lends it a solemn, commanding feel, almost medieval in character. Brutalism at its most monumental.
The 4:5 format holds its own on a wall or sits comfortably alongside other towers from our brutalist architecture poster collection. We can picture it in a study, library or character-filled living room in a New Zealand home.
Available in a range of sizes.
Many brutalist towers were designed as landmarks, visible from a distance. Explore the story of brutalism in our article.
