Upright, slender and precisely centred, this tower certainly knows how to hold a pose.
It climbs from the bottom of the frame like a column, its facade marked out by rows of windows and little balconies, many personalised by the people who live there. Near the top, a series of projecting floors broadens the building, much like the capital of a Greek column. All around it is a pale, open sky.
Its symmetry is what catches the eye. Every line feels balanced and vertical, while the expanse of white makes the tower seem taller than it probably is. There’s a quiet authority to it, like a portrait.
A tall, narrow wall is the natural spot for this print: beside a window, at the end of a hallway or on a staircase, whether in a Wellington flat or a home elsewhere in Aotearoa. The poster comes in several sizes.
