Two rounded towers stand side by side, like a pair of lighthouses.
Small tiles catch the light across their curved corners, while each tower is topped with a boxy, glazed balcony. Below, rows of windows and loggias descend floor by floor. The black sky behind them throws the buildings into sharp relief.
There’s a distinctly graphic, almost poster-like feel to this image. Pale forms against a dark background remain clear from across the room, and the matching towers create a pleasing rhythm.
Late Soviet housing often used rounded corners and decorative cladding to soften its monumental blocks. It’s a lesser-known side of the story, and one we wanted to include in our brutalist architecture poster collection.
The 4:5 format works well on a home office wall, in a bedroom or in a dining room, including the relaxed interiors of a Kiwi home. Available in several sizes.
