From June 1886, Vincent and Theo lived together in an apartment at 54 rue Lepic, on the slopes of Montmartre. With a broad view across Paris, it became the subject of a painting Vincent made from the window in spring 1887.
A brick wall on the right frames the scene, giving the sense of leaning out for a look. Beyond it, rooftops, chimneys and façades cluster together in pink, blue and grey, formed from little dots and strokes. The sky is a soft, milky blue. It’s a still, almost tender glimpse of the world from home, one that feels at ease in a New Zealand bedroom or hallway.
A thoughtful gift for someone fond of Paris or settling into a new home. It sits comfortably in a hallway or bedroom. Choose from several poster sizes.
