The Grande Allée runs straight towards the pink house, under arches covered with climbing roses. On both sides, borders overflow with purple asters and red flowers, and the path itself is striped with shadows in violet and orange. The house at the end is only a glimpse of green shutters through the leaves.
This is the main path of the flower garden at Giverny, which Monet designed himself and tended with a team of gardeners. He painted it in 1902, at the height of summer. The canvas belongs to the Belvedere museum in Vienna.
Generous and colourful, it brings the garden indoors in a living room, a dining room or an entrance. Our Monet art prints include the water garden on the other side of the road too. Discover how he built both in our article on Monet's Giverny. Square format, several sizes.
