Three of Matisse’s paper cut-outs, together in one set: Horse, Rider and Clown, The Toboggan and The Sorrows of the King. This set brings them together as 3 art prints, at 20% off the price of the three posters bought separately.

The first two are plates from Jazz, the book published in 1947 in which Matisse turned to paper cut-outs: shapes cut with scissors from sheets he had painted with gouache. Horse, Rider and Clown is a circus scene, with a purple horse leaping across a cobalt ground. The Toboggan, the last plate of the book, shows a blue figure tumbling against a violet background. The Sorrows of the King, made in 1952 when Matisse was over eighty, is one of his last great cut-outs: a dark figure holding a golden guitar, a dancer and yellow leaves scattered like confetti. Circus, music and dance: the three works share the same bold colours and the same rhythm. All three prints have the same width, so they line up perfectly when hung one above the other.
