A sloping meadow fills the bottom half, painted in long strokes of green, ochre and rust. Behind it, a mass of trees glows in red, orange and purple against a pale pink sky, as if lit by a low autumn sun. Nothing else, no path, no figure.
Monet painted this field at Giverny in 1886, when he was beginning to reduce his landscapes to a few large masses of colour. The warm palette and the simple structure, ground, trees and sky, foreshadow the series he would start a few years later.
Warm and enveloping, it suits a living room, a bedroom or a study with wood and earthy tones. Our Monet posters include another meadow at Giverny, painted in green and lilac in 1894. Our article on Monet tells the story of his Giverny years. Several sizes, framed or not.
