Three straight poplars cut the canvas into tall panels, their thin tops tufted with green. Behind them, a lower row of trees in yellow and lime catches the full sun, and the sky is a lively blue full of white clouds. The river at the bottom glitters.
Of all the poplar canvases of 1891, this is one of the brightest. Monet painted it on a breezy summer day, and you can feel the wind in the clouds and the leaves. He showed the poplar series at Durand-Ruel's gallery in Paris in 1892.
Fresh and luminous, it brings summer into a living room, a kitchen or a bedroom. Combine it with the twilight version from our Monet art prints. For more about the series, read our article on Claude Monet. Several sizes.
