Three slender trunks rise straight up through a soft pink sky, their few tufts of leaves in fresh green. Behind them, a row of lower trees curves away in pale greens and blues, and the river at the bottom reflects everything in vertical stripes of pink and mint.
Monet gave this canvas of the 1891 poplar series its own colour title, as he often did, to describe the light of the moment. Here the whole picture is bathed in a pink glow, probably early in the morning, and the trees look almost weightless.
Delicate and airy, it is lovely in a bedroom, a nursery or a light living room. Our Monet art prints include the same poplars in sun, at twilight and in autumn. For the story of how he saved these trees, read our article on Monet. Several sizes, framed or not.
