The castle is painted yellow, its roof red, while the trees in front are so full and rounded they nearly cover the windows. Below, the scene appears again across the lake, softened into long, vertical reflections.
Klimt painted Schloss Kammer on several occasions between 1908 and 1912. For this third version, completed in 1910, he moved closer to the building, left out the sky and made the façade a flat, sunlit backdrop. He often painted from the water or the opposite bank, using a telescope to frame the view. That helps explain the slightly compressed perspective.
