A field full of golden sheaves of wheat, standing in rows like little figures in long dresses. The sun turns them bright yellow and orange, the grass between them a pale mint green, and a line of blue trees closes the horizon under a light sky.
Les Demoiselles de Giverny, the young ladies of Giverny, is the playful name Monet gave to these sheaves, which reminded him of young women walking in the fields. He painted them in the summer of 1894, a light-hearted subject after the long work on Rouen Cathedral.
Sunny and cheerful, it brightens a kitchen, a living room or a child's room. Our Monet posters include his famous grainstacks and haystacks too. To learn more about his life at Giverny, read our article on Claude Monet. Several sizes.
