A tall brick tower with a white wooden spire rises on the left, beside a row of colourful Amsterdam houses. Ships and masts crowd the harbour on the right, and the water in front is a lively surface of blue and orange strokes under a bright, cloudy sky.
The Montelbaanstoren is a sixteenth-century defence tower on the Oudeschans canal. Monet painted it during his trip to Amsterdam in 1874, with a much brighter palette than in his grey harbour views of the same stay.
Cheerful and lively, it suits a living room, an office or a child's room. Our Claude Monet prints and posters include his other Dutch views, from Zaandam to Amsterdam. Read our article on Monet for the story of his travels. Several sizes, framed or not.
