Two stacks of wheat sit in a field covered with fresh snow, their tops dusted white. The low morning sun gives their sides a warm rust and violet glow, and their shadows stretch long and blue across the snow. Behind them, the houses of the village blur into a pink and peach haze.
This is one of the snowy mornings of the famous series, painted in the winter of 1890 to 1891 in the field next to Monet's house at Giverny. He had to work fast, as the sun rose and the colours changed every few minutes. The canvas belongs to the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.
Warm and wintry at once, it suits a living room, a bedroom or an entrance. Our Monet prints and posters gather several stacks of the series, so you can compare the light. Our article on Claude Monet tells how the series changed his career. Several sizes.
